It’s not a surprise that Brooklyn Bridge Park had its best summer ever, numbers wise, considering all that’s opened at the park recently. Here are the numbers, announced by the BBPC: nearly 125,000 attendees to the public programs, 40,000 viewers of the outdoor movies screening once a week, 4,000 students attended educational programs, and over 1,100 volunteers. A visitor count conducted for a few days in July revealed that close to 90,000 visitors came to Brooklyn Bridge Park on an average summer weekend. That’s a 50 percent increase in visitors from last year. Still to come this fall are the Squibb Park Bridge and three rec fields, barbeque pits, picnic tables, and play areas on Pier Five. Pier Five is also the site of the future field house, which has caused some neighborhood concern over potential congestion and parking.
