The Jardin, the 44-unit development at 142 North 6th Street in Williamsburg, is fully leased up after only five weeks on the market, according to The Real Deal. (For a slideshow of the building, check out this post we did last September.) The news marks the conclusion of a four-year saga that exemplifies the Williamsburg market as a whole: The development initially came to market as a condo in 2008 but had to pull the plug when the market hit the skids; developers made another go of it last fall as condos before announcing in January that they would refund deposits and switch to rentals. Rentals actually came online in April and, not surprisingly given the location, we snapped up quickly at an average price of $54 a foot. “We tapped into the marketplace of people who would love to buy, but because of job situations, economic circumstances, and difficulty in getting loans were not ready to do so,” said Dave Maundrell, head of Aptsandlofts.com which handled the leasing.
