A developer has filed for permits to build a 10-story building at 573 4th Avenue, between 16th Street and the expressway. There’s no application on record yet to demolish the little carriage house that’s currently on the South Slope site, though, so work on the new building may not be starting anytime soon. We’re looking at a tall and skinny project if it ever gets under way, though. GMAP

  1. I currently reside in a building on this corner. My apartment is beautiful inside, not dilapidated at all. Despite how “fugly” it is on the outside, real people live in there, and have called it home for over 3 years. Thanks to buildings like the Sliver, we will most likely be kicked out of our home soon and have to pay triple the rent for half the space. So everyone hating on my block can shut the fuck up. Also, that cute carriage house was full of rats, and I was happy to see it go- but now that I know what’s going in its place, I kinda want the rats back.
