The Gap Will Lease Space on the Fulton Mall

Another retailer is going to contribute to the changing nature of the Fulton Mall, with the Gap signing on to take space at 400 Fulton Street. Joe Chan, president of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, announced the news at yesterday’s Brooklyn Real Estate Summit, according to the Eagle. Other changes in the works for the thoroughfare include the future openings of a Shake Shack, H&M, and Filene’s Basement. A commercial broker who attended yesterday’s meeting told us that there’s a possibility that the Gap will be an outlet. The space in question is currently occupied by a clothing store called S&D Underground.

  • Well, I can’t really despise the Gap as they often reutilize old properties and support historic preservation projects, rather than building outright new stores to house their wares.

  • I really wish it wasn’t all apparel retailers. A Bed Bath and Beyond will be a welcome alternative to Target.

  • gap outlet had just missed the space aeropostatle took so i suspect this is their replacement
downside is S & D has cool t-shirts cheap, great gifts for those hip hop friends and nephews

  • I might be nuts, but back when the Gap had the MOST annoying radio jingle (“..fall into the Gap”)and graphics that looked like blue stitched denim, and only one store in Manhattan on 34th St., there was an outpost on Fulton Street opposite the Dime Savings Bank, on the corner of Bond St. Do I remember this right? It turned into a skanky luggage store after they left.
