bkny: yes, I recall the photos of the firemen battling flames from inside the adjacent house, which had lost its cornice to the fire. But it wasn’t a total loss was it?
Is there any word on the street that other buildings will need to come down?

I am impressed that the fire was contained to just the one building. Hopefully the adjacent row of bow-fronted walk-ups will be restored. They do not have landmark protection.
