Big news in the Flea department…As Daily Intel reported (and Curbed echoed) this morning, the Brooklyn Flea will be setting up camp in Williamsburg on Sundays when its outdoor season begins in April. While The Flea will continue to be held as usual in its flagship Fort Greene location on Saturdays, on Sundays it will move to a similarly-sized, 40,000-square-foot plot on the East River between North 6th and North 7th Streets. The plot is the future home of the third tower in the Edge complex; rather than leave it empty for the next few years, the developer, Douglaston Development, wanted to landscape and activate the site. The timing was perfect for The Flea, which needed a larger location for the outdoor season. We also will be programming the Edge site on Saturdays in ways that are related to The Flea’s existing areas of interest but that won’t compete directly against the Saturday operation in Fort Greene.

  1. That’s too bad. We’ll really miss the Hanson Place location.
This new location will be a big hassle to get to. Hope they’ll change their plan on this or possibly have the flee in both locations.

  2. Congrats – it should be a great location.

Can you talk to your landlord about finishing the waterfront esplanade he promised us? It would certainly improve the view from the Flea.

  3. I’ve got a great idea.
Why not do a FLEA MARKET where the vendors only sell used goods? You know, like the name flea market denotes.

  4. i miss the dumbo flee! what a nice walk that was.

do you know what the parking situation is like around the new flea location? i’m not familiar with williamsburg at all.
