  1. Someone should make Kaiser style insurance available across the US. The doctors there are paid a salary like anyone else. As a single payer, I paid $100 a month (1994 to 2001) and my grandmother paid $150. Everything was covered. There were no bills for service, no billing errors, no arguing with the insurance company over whether something as covered or not. It wasn’t the most sophisticated medical service available, but it was adequate and affordable.

  2. Ishtar- I think gem will have to do the cooking. As my family (at least those who have lived to tell about it) my cooking ability is on a par with my surgical ability. I can carve it up artistically but let’s not discuss the taste 🙂

  3. cobble, did you actually look at the amount in the SUI/SDI box? Just for the fun of it, I pulled our W2’s for last year. We paid about $22 each for the YEAR!

That’s $0.42 per WEEK for what you think is unemployment insurance that would pay $405 per week and there is a high likelihood that most people will collect on it sometime during their life.

Check your number, it should be obvious that it’s not SUI.

  4. Rob – that brings to mind the other day you said
you “can’t be asked to do laundry”. I’m presuming you meant you “can’t be arsed to do laundry”. You’ve got a whole parallel language system going on.
