Grand Avenue between Myrtle and Park Avenues in Clinton Hill is kind of a weird scene. During the boom, there were four new buildings and one conversion that were undertaken (according to our count). A couple of them have been substantially complete for several months but as far as we can tell don’t have any inhabitants yet. This particular project at 97 Grand Avenue has been dragging on for years. An application was made to DOB for an 11-story new building back in 2005, but it took a while to get going, so that the foundation was barely under way when the area was downzoned in 2007. As we reported at the time, the DOB deemed the foundation to be complete enough to qualify for vesting under the old zoning rules. For some reason (perhaps to do with structural issues on adjacent properties?) the project stayed in limbo until earlier this year. Since getting the green-light in January, work has been proceeding steadily, and by last week windows were getting installed. GMAP
