“Exhibits” Our for a Spin
The New York Transit Museum is taking a few of its ‘exhibits’ out for a spin, offering an unforgettable adventure July 31 and August 21, 2010. Passengers will experience the flickering lights, soft seating, and gentle rumble of 1930s and 1940s subway travel onboard the Museum fleet of pre-WWII R 1/9 subway cars. This Saturday the Transit Museum will offer an excursion to Coney Island. Reservations and advance payment are highly recommended: call 718-694-1867. Come and enjoy the nostalgia! The Brooklyn Flea

The Flea is located not only at the former bank at One Hanson, but also at the Fort Greene market. On Saturdays, the market will be located at the Fort Greene location and on Sundays you can find the market at One Hanson which is located at the clocktower Art Deco building at Flatbush Ave., across from the Target mall. The Flea features 100 vendors and a great mix of vintage, antiques, jewelry, and food. Bridge Culture 2010: Haiti
Bridge Culture: An International Festival of Music, Storytelling & Dance, will welcome families, friends and visitors to Brooklyn Bride Park, Pier 1, for its final weekend of free performances that showcase New York City’s great cultural diversity. The closing event will celebrate the culture of Haiti with a thrilling musical set by Buyu Ambroise & the Blues in Red Band, dance by the renowned Peniel Guerrier Dance Company, and storytelling by Jennifer Celestin of the Haiti Cultural Exchange. Saturday, July 31. 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Free. Pier 1, Brooklyn Bridge Park.

7th Annual Animation Block Party
Animation Block Party (ABP) 2010 kicks off with new categories, new animations and new up-and-coming animators – it’s an event you won’t want to miss! The award categories this year are: Minute Movie; Best in Show; Original Design; Music Video; Narrative Short; Audience Award; Student Film; Computer Animation; Experimental and Documentary Short. Rounding up this year’s ABP festival prize jury are: Amid Amidi of Cartoon Brew, Rachel Simon of World Leaders Entertainment, Dave Schlafman of CloudKid and Ramin Zahed of Animation Magazine. Kayaking and Community Rowing
There is no need to sign up in advance; boating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. No training or prior experience is needed. Bring clothes you don’t mind getting wet, and shoes or sandals suitable for walking on a rocky beach. The only requirement is that you know how to swim. All equipment is provided free.
