A tipster sent us a link to a Craigslist ad for a chef at Palo Cortado, a Spanish tapas bar that’s preparing to open somewhere in Carroll Gardens. The restaurant is seeking candidates who can “create a menu reflecting the rich regional diversity of classical and contemporary Spanish cuisine,” but the ad doesn’t say exactly where the restaurant will be located. The tipster says, “The only place that this could possibly be is the old Laundromat / ‘Ice Cream Parlor’ on Court St & 1st Place… From the looks of the construction, they are a ways away from actually opening.” (According to the signs on the door, the laundromat is definitely being converted into a restaurant.) Anybody got the scoop on this spot? GMAP

  1. Just spoke to Pop (my nickname for the real nice, old Italian man who owns the building). He says the space will be fitted out in two weeks, flooring is going in tomorrow. They did a great job painting the old tin ceiling. Let’s see how long it takes for Palo Cortado to move in. Huntington and Court it is.

This end of Court Street is really starting to spruce up!

  2. Yeah definitely the place down by Huntington. They put up a logo on the plywood a couple days ago. Any idea what that laundromat place is going to become?

  3. Speaking of Tapas, Kara a new Tapas place opened up in Bay Ridge called Vela. I’ve already been their twice. Its very good. A definite candidate for ROTD.
