Big news! The second phase of the Brooklyn Bridge Park roll-out happens tomorrow, with opening ceremonies at Pier 6 scheduled for the morning. The 1.6-acre playground features “Swing Valley” (pictured above) and “Slide Mountain” along with three volleyball courts and a 6,000-square-foot sandbox, Brooklyn’s largest. In other exciting news, tomorrow will mark the beginning of seasonal weekend Water Taxi service to Governors Island. You can see the ferry schedule here.

  1. Although my high school gym days still give me nightmares, I do play a mean game of volleyball. In high school my serve was feared. Not so much fear when I was up under the net, but fear is fear. I’ll take it.

  2. Pete, no one, and I do mean NO ONE, wants to see any of the PLUSAs half naked! LOL…and we are serious about nothing but beer and glitter…surely it would be a relaxing game full of frivolity and giggles.

  3. But they’ve got volleyball courts all set up! Besides, dodgeball may lead to a few assault and battery charges…think of all the people (myself included I’m sure) who’d be getting pelted really hard by a ball just because 🙂

  4. PLUSA volleyball team, anyone? I’m actually quite good at that game! Everyone should be up for it, as we all have some aggression/curmudgeoness (Pete, Benson, I’m lookin’ at you!) to work out and whacking and thwacking a ball could be good for the psyche.
