The coffee shop/book store (or whatever it’s gonna be) at the corner of Clifton Place and Grand Avenue in New York looks like it may be getting close to opening: One night last week the new recessed lighting was blazing away. About time! It’s only been, what, like four years?

  1. I walked by one night and a petite woman and a man were in there. I asked what was coming and they said a wine bar. That was a couple months ago, though, so maybe they have changed the plan if they couldn’t get a license, which is very likely. They installed a big vent last week, so they will definitely be cooking some.

  2. Hey Witchdoctor — If you know one of the owners, can you confirm what this place will actually be? (coffee house and wine bar are both rumored) Saw the interior last night and it looks amazing. Whoever is renovating does have amazing taste! thanks!

  3. i am glad that it has taken a while. why rush a construction job, it always ends up pretty awful and hopefully, this place will be nice and fit within the context of the neighborhood. one of the owners has BEYOND EXTRAORDINARY taste, so…i am hoping for the best!

  4. Looks like someone was too busy making underhanded comments about recessed lighting and length of construction to make sure the actual content of the post made sense before publishing it.
