Friday at 11:00, the Upstater website brings you a selection of properties for rent and sale within three hours north (and a little bit east and/or west) of New York City. This week: views.

The cooler mornings have us thinking of the approach of Indian Summer, and that has us thinking of leaf-peeping time. So here are a few properties from which to gaze at the changing leaves. Let’s hope we have some this year.

2 Friendship Street, Tivoli

You know how the best views of Manhattan are from New Jersey? Well, the best view of the Catskills are from across the river, and this waterfont Victorian in the wonderful town of Tivoli offers you a primo vista. (No, we are not saying Tivoli is New Jersey; it’s already been pronounced Brooklyn on the Hudson.)

The house is 1,439 square feet, on a half-acre lot with three bedrooms and 1.5 baths. Yes, riverfront means the train blazing through your yard at odd moments during the day, but we’d stayed in the inn next door and it didn’t bother us a smidge. Tivoli will eventually build a riverfront park right nearby. This is a rental, by the way.

2 Friendship Street, Tivoli. $3,000/month. GMAP.

169 Bakers Road, Hurley

Five bedrooms, three baths, 3,500 square feet, beautiful custom woodwork and, yeah, views. The house was built in 1918 and sits on 6.7 acres. Seems like setting up shop in a Maxfield Parrish painting.

169 Bakers Road, West Hurley, NY. $1,150,000. GMAP.

2 Anderson Road, Ellenville

The price of this Ellenville farmhouse has been reduced to $329,000 since we wrote it up in June. It has three beds and two baths, and sits on almost nine acres. It was built in 1880, although we have a suspicion that it might have been moved at some point — it’s far off the road and very secluded.

The barn was built in 1880 and converted in 2008: a nice combo of rustic and modern, and, yeah, the views ain’t bad, either.

2 Anderson Road, Ellenville (Rand Realty) GMAP
