Boy oh boy, have we been waiting to get our hands on some prime Hudson real estate. Thankfully, there is a whole crop of new Warren Street rental properties in the Brownstoner Upstate listings, and we selected a few to peruse today. For the uninitiated (which we think might be exactly zero people reading this post), Hudson is a city in Columbia County located along the Hudson River. It has a fun, walkable business district, and the city’s pride and joy is Warren Street. All of the rentals we found are located in gorgeous, well-maintained historic homes. Warren Street is about a half-mile from the Hudson Amtrak station.

This two-bed beauty is situated in a restored turn-of-the-century townhouse. It includes two baths and a super-roomy kitchen. The tenants get their own parking space. We think dark hardwood floors are such a nice touch a place like this, and we could certainly get used to working in that kitchen (butcher block counters!). It also includes washer/dryer and a deck. Sharp! Beds: 2. Baths: 2. Square Feet: 1,900. Lot Size: .08 acre.

Look how high the ceilings are in this one-bed inside of a stately old brick building. Sadly, there’s no laundry in the apartment, but at least there’s one in the basement (schlepping your laundry to the ‘mat is the worst). Wood floors, tall windows, and the tenant gets off-street parking. Beds: Studio. Baths: 1.

Located within the most interesting building (in our opinion) of the bunch, this apartment has some great old details like exposed brick walls, ceiling supports (don’t hit your head!), and wide plank floors. It’s also right next door to Park Pizza and Falafel, a place you will find yourself addicted to after your first trip there. Beds: Studio. Baths: 1.

If a studio is too small for you, here’s a three bedroom with a balcony overlooking Warren. It’s just gorgeous: Hardwood floors, exposed brick, big kitchen, a bay window and fireplace in the living room, and a washer/dryer in the bathroom. Beds: 3. Baths: 1.

There are nice apartments in a historic district literally one block south of Warren – for considerably less per square foot than the rents cited in this article, and in a quieter area. Older houses in the residential area north of Warren are also undergoing renovation and restoration; rents there are apt to be lower. If you’re interested in renting in Hudson and don’t have to be on Warren, shop around.

I know some people who rent in New Paltz every June and July, for weekend trips. There are lots of nice places available there for summer rentals, since the university students are gone for June and July and they (or their landlords) sublet their houses out for two months. No car necessary.
