Cemetery officials are trying to create what’s called a “197A plan” that formalizes the community’s wishes and makes it a lot harder for the city to go against them. More details at The Brooklyn Paper.

  1. Good luck, Greenwood Heights. I hope you are successful. There are a lot of local community groups supporting you, and watching closely. It’s such an obviously moving sight to see the alignment of the statues, and to realize the symbolism therein. The view needs to be protected.

  2. This is a HUGE deal. After all the work the local activists and the Cemetery did with the old developer(fighting) and new developer (working with him), the 197-a plan could prompt CPC to actually take a stance of the vie corridor from Minerva on Battle Hill to Liberty in the harbor.

    The view has been marred enough as it is by those hideous townhouses, but no need for me to rant about them again.
