Astoria Getting New Oyster Bar

A new, old-school oyster and cocktail bar has opened in Astoria. Mar’s, which began its “soft opening” two weeks ago, is currently serving cocktails and several fresh oyster varieties. A more extensive menu, featuring American and Mediterranean-influenced cuisine, should be arriving next month with the addition of a fully-functioning kitchen.  

At 34-21 34^th Ave., Mar’s replaced the Sophia Taverna restaurant which has been closed for some time. Social media is already buzzing about their food and drinks as well as their vintage-y interior décor. As the word spreads, Mar’s is looking to become a very popular spot. GMAP
