This post is an example of the messenger outshining the message. Open Thread-regular Biff Champion sent in the visual evidence of Iris Nail coming to 132 Montague Street along with a note saying, “Just what Brooklyn Heights needs!” We’d tend to agree: After all, isn’t there a nail place just next door at 130 Montague? We were psyched, though, because despite being one of the most active readers on the boards (and at parties), Senor Champion had never sent in a tip until today. GMAP

  1. Creativity and uniqueness doesn’t work too well in the hood. You have to cater to the market to survive. On Montague St. that means another business that caters mostly to the lunch crowd, not residents who are more likely to frequent businesses south of Atlantic Ave. or in Manhattan.

  2. If this has you scratching your head asking why checkout flat-bush in PLG.Same businesses open over and over again. There are at least 6 beauty shops,5 99 cents stores,5 barber shops,4 Chinese restaurants, and 10 Jamaican restaurants all in a 4 block radius. And now a new coffee shop when K-dog is right by the train.

    Oh and 5 nail salons.

What happened to creativity and uniqueness?

  3. What is with this Iris Nails place? Dashing Diva on Smith has been there for years, and they just opened across the street from it. This Montague Dashing Diva has been there for at least two years, and now Iris Nail opens next to that? Some kind of nail salon soap opera in there somewhere.
