the windows are ugly. I hate the way they open, like they are flying in mid air, makes the building look sloppy. Plus, again, how do you clean them from the outside, screens???
I love this- I think it`s great for what it`s NOT trying to do, which is to blend in with 19th century “accents” that end up looking horrible. Instead it`s minimalist, easy on the eyes, and pared down to the most straightforward solutions.
The facade and windows are gorgeous. Much higher quality than typical of new construction. And I like the quality with the plain. A lot.
Boerum resident,
u hit the nail on the head…..nearly all CG housing is brownstone vs 1 BR/studio…there’s not a lot on mkt in between…i’m blown away by how fast these units went for especially when u consider living next to a construction site.
there is a 4 bedroom (I think a bit more than this price) on Boerum Pl with yard and garage.
Sadly, I think it would be hard to find a 3BR with over 1700 sq feet and outdoor space in PS29 for much less. I doubt you could find it for much less in either BH or PS either.
The only other new build in the enighborhood that I can think of is the 225 Pacific building (between Court and Boerum), but the comparable PH unit there seems to have (i) much higher taxes, (ii) might have more noise spillover from the mega-intersection at Boerum and Atlantic, and (iii) is in PS 261 (a fine school but probably not as highly sought after as 29). (One might also complain about the House of Detention, but not me.) The other 3BR’s are smaller, but I guess they are more comparable in price to the lower priced units in this place on Sackett.
Sorry but three windows across a brick facade do not a “townhouse” make.
BR’s point about a dearth of 3BR’s is absolutely true… there are few. But 1.5m to live on Sackett Street? You could buy a 3BR in better locations for 1.5m.
Luckily it doesn’t matter that some of you think it’s plain cause guess what….THEY ALL SOLD OUT!
Yet one more example of how Brownstoners DO NOT make up the Brooklyn real estate market. They just comment on it.
