Every season is solar season, but summer is the busiest season when it comes to New Yorkers deciding to go solar. Makes sense when you think about it: With the sun bearing down on the regular, New Yorkers turn up the A/C. And then the bill shows up. Ouch.

That’s when people go to the Brooklyn SolarWorks solar savings calculator. I tried it for myself.

I clicked on this link and this screen appeared:

I entered my address and estimated my monthly bill at $150. Almost immediately, my estimate appeared, like this:

Less than $10,000 all-in to install panels? Not bad. Then I scrolled down and saw this:

I liked what I saw — especially the average monthly savings of $130. And the carbon offset equates to 103 trees planted. Nice.

It turns out the savings for NYC homeowners averages more than $50,000 over the lifetime of their system (25 to 30 years).

How? It’s called net metering. When your solar panels produce more energy than your home needs (which they will), the excess energy is exported into the grid and Con Edison compensates you for it.

Check out the solar savings calculator for yourself and compare your current average bill to the average bill after solar.

Brooklyn SolarWorks provides 24/7 real-time monitoring and a 30-year total system warranty. Visit Brooklyn SolarWorks online to find out more or get in touch.
