Pierhouse recently hosted an event called BKLYN-BASED, a celebration of local artists curated by Emily Santangelo in conjunction with Pace Prints and Jacob Lewis Gallery. The challenge: to create a dynamic and livable selection of artwork for Pierhouse’s model apartments.

The space is now filled with local artistry including the confectionery world of Will Cotton (who, when not creating fine art, works on videos for artists such as Katie Perry), as well as Emilio Perez’s soothing color palette, and Leonardo Drew’s boundary-pushing work.

Pierhouse, the upscale residential complex now under construction in Brooklyn Bridge Park, is an experiment in building a luxury living space that is uniquely integrated with both the physical environment and Brooklyn culture.

Situated atop 85 acres of rolling hills edged with salt marshes, Pierhouse is a marriage of 21st-century urban and natural environments. Brooklyn Bridge Park—previously one of the busiest ports in the world—is currently home to beautifully landscaped gardens, piers converted into sports facilities, and concessions that serve the large crowds of tourists and residents who come to take in the spectacular views.

Residents of Pierhouse will enjoy over 18-foot ceilings in most living spaces, reclaimed wood floors, marble countertops, walnut cabinets, energy-efficient solar shades, wine storage, and marble bathrooms with free-standing, Signature soaking tubs. New Yorkers will especially appreciate having their own washer and dryer.

Pierhouse unveiled its model home on June 11, a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath located on the fifth floor of the North building. Totaling 2,664 interior square feet with an 88-square-foot outdoor terrace, the residence features unobstructed views of the New York skyline and East River, Statue of Liberty, and Brooklyn Bridge Park. Interiors, exteriors, and the building’s signature green elements were designed by Marvel Architects. Green features of the building include rainwater irrigation systems, exterior LED lighting, and composting via under-the-counter odorless bins.

Conservation and preservation were key objectives at Pierhouse, but comfort and convenience were not forgotten. There is 24/7 concierge service, an indoor/outdoor meditation studio, a fitness center, a children’s playroom, and the latest amenity in the luxury market: the pet wash.

With its Brooklyn Bridge Park location, its design, and its conservation efforts, Pierhouse is a residential building unlike any other.
