It all started at a school in New York City. French-born interior specialist Arno Cornillon’s dream was to bring a rainbow of possibility to the walls. He wanted every classroom and its chalkboard to be a different colour. There was only one problem: the only colour available was black! With an innovative attitude, he began mixing paints and his passion and forte led him to develop a palette that took him to the top of the class.
Arno went on to sell his hand-mixed chalkboard paint at craft fairs but soon the demand for his beautiful colours reached the limit of his studio mixing capabilities. He found a manufacturer in the Hudson Valley who shared his values and worked with them to produce a range of high-quality, low-VOC chalkboard paints.
On the flipside of the world, a Kiwi couple were looking for chalkboard paint in creative shades so they could transform their cut out shapes and sell them at local markets. A connection was made that would change the shape and colour of their future. These fellow design lovers decided that instead of importing Hudson Paints they would make them right here in New Zealand.
Hudson Paints NZ was born.
You won't find many carbon miles in these eco-conscious chalkboard colours. You will find fun and functionality poured into every recyclable plastic pail.
