About
PAUL is located on the waterfront in a quiet corner of Red Hook, Brooklyn. We watch the boats sail by and dogs play, and catch glimpses of the city off in the distance. PAUL is the identifier of the experience you have working with us on your project. It's the experience we share and the relationship we grow resulting in the architecture. We'll probably be good friends long after the project is complete. Our work does not focus on any particular type of project but hopes to transcend use. The work does not have a style but instead focuses on critical problem solving to to produce something unique. The work resides between brackets, among actors and within relationships. Dancing between these entities, the outcome strives for a positiveness, positioned at the heart of the matter. PAUL was founded by Paul Coughlin in 2013 after working for nearly 15 years for some great firms. Paul is NCARB certified and a licensed architect in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Paul received a Bachelor of Architecture from Philadelphia University and a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University, GSAPP. Paul teaches architecture studio at The New York City College of Technology. Paul has previously taught at The University of Pennsylvania School of Design and Philadelphia University School of Architecture. Paul has been an invited guest critic at Philadelphia University, Drexel University, Barnard College, Pratt Institute, Parsons New School for Design, University of Pennsylvania School of Design and Columbia University, GSAPP and University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture.
