W'burgers Can't Get Enough of New Rental Tower

Remember the new tower that’s been going up on South 8th Street in Williamsburg that we featured back in August? Well, it turns out it’s quite a hit. According to a post on Curbed yesterday, the opening weekend at the 66-unit rental building prompted a spate of bidding wars. That’s right, folks, bidding wars! Granted, the apartments look pretty nice but it’s hardly a seller’s (or landlord’s) market out there. GMAP
That is one hideous building. And the prices are not cheap at all for the LOCATION. Could be those who signed up do not know the area.
Oh, my Williamsburg, what have they done to you?
Oh, well…don’t take offense. I always think of Bedford Ave. as a strip;). You know like in Panama City, once you leave the strip…there’s nothing to do. I’m sure it’s lovely if people are bidding on it, I on the other hand do not get it. To each his/her own.
This building is not on “that strip” of Bedford Ave.

rob – cheesy? seriously? have you been to a hair salon in park slope? or two boots? really, you wanna debate cheesy?
good lord no! lol @ you two. i never said park slope was any less cheesy. sheesh! just that williamsburg is 20/30 year old cheesy and park slope is 30/40 year old cheesey. hahah.
also, i take pride in living in Cheeseville USA.
*rob*
People heart their Williamsburg! I saw this on Curbed yesterday and coughed and then laughed and then told a friend. It made me wonder…really? Williamsburg? It’s on the L train? But ok…whatever. I looked at the website and wondered what was different about the building…didn’t notice anything. I guess it’s crucial to be on that strip of Bedford Ave!

everyone is sooo busy being down on WB, but i have been saying since day one on brownstoner, that anyone listening with 2 pennies in their pockets should buy up low price studio and one bedrooms at bargain prices to rent out because the rental demand is HUGE in WB.
the building on N.8th and Roebling that everybody poo-poo’ed here, is totally full! with renters. i passed it last night, and lights on all over and windows all have window treatments.
btw – it’s simply not all kids. that’s so stupid. i know a married couple in that building, and they are expecting a baby.
“and that’s why williamsburg is the cheesiest neighborhood on the East Coast of the USA. student newspapers in Iowa talk about (seriously) lol”
yeah – well at least amy sohn didn’t write a cheesy sex and the city style novel about it like your neighborhood!
there really isn’t much in the way of high-rise rentals in Williamsburg (just the one on s. 4th street comes to mind). so the inferior location is offset by the amenities and building.
