Has anyone else noticed the re-brownstoning boom going on over on South Portland between Dekalb and Lafayette? We counted six facades in the works last weekend. Is this just Spring fever or is something else, like a rash of new owners, driving this? GMAP

  1. I agree with famdoc. We used metro as well.. Same issue. Pain in the butt client? I think not. The man under quotes to get the job, then tries to scam more money for the job to fix things that should have been done right the first time. Poster at 1:02 –You might want to actually use the vendor yourself before you critize someone who has.

I invite you to view the facade of my house and tell me if I am being trivial by demanding Hasan fix what he did.

  3. I’ve used Hasan from Metro Waterproofing for two different jobs.
He consistently comes in under everyone else’s estimates. His workmen were thorough and meticulous (in one case, I needed the ornamentation around several window repaired and his man worked by hand to restore the ornamentation so that one couldn’t distinguish between the original and the restored brownstone).

In both cases, small but significant careless errors were made. He acknowledged both errors and had the nerve to ask for additional money to rectify the errors. Each time, he became hot around the collar when I refused to pay him more. He fixed the first problem when I threatened to bring the Department of Consumer Affairs into the picture. The second time, he hung up on me and hasn’t rectified the small but noticeable problem yet.
