Putting the Park Back in Sunset Park

Sunset Park already has its own park (duh!) but until now has been left out of the greening of the waterfront that has been sweeping both sides of the East River. Formerly the Bush Terminal Piers and currently a mix of contaminated landfill and crumbling warehouses, the stretch of river front between 43rd and 51st streets will get a $36 million make-over, half of which will come from the State. A significant portion of the funds will go towards removing the “elevated levels” of arsenic and lead currently on the site.
