Yes, the winter slush. But this is the time to explore new neighborhoods. So how about intro’s to neighborhoods that have good up-side/affordability/options/
Here is my suggestions for an Open House tour of Cyprus Hills. Why? Its got good subway connections, a great Park and a wonderful variety of architectural styles, sizes and price ranges.
Here are some good “affordable” options for want of a less political hot potato!
100 Essex St, 2 family asking $499,000 OH 1:00-2:30 pm
444 Ridgewood Ave 2 family + Garage asking $495,000 OH 12:00 -2:00Pm
279 Etna St, Renovated One family asking $489,000 OH 2:00-3:30 pm
All livable, all within a couple of blocks to J & Z train with easy connections to L & A at Broadway Junction all on blocks with majority owner occupancy and all cheaper than a one bedroom co-op in Downtown Brooklyn..
Just a suggestion….
What criteria is used in choosing the Open House picks?
Non of these are particularly good value, or architecturally inspiring or particularly representative of the market, the awful job on Albany should not even be condoned.
That is very true. Although Bay Ridge is lovely and a much better value IMHO than Crown Heights or Bed Stuy at current prices, parking is a nightmare. I lived in Park Slope for 5 years before moving to BR this year, and I’m surprised how much better (or less horrible) parking was in PS. Although the patterns are different: cars are for weekend use in PS and for daily use in BR.
Just curious, would you rather the brownstone on Albany Avenue for 1.3 or a similar house (not necessarily brownstone) in Bay Ridge?
although housing stock is a bit different comparatively
