It’s been a long road for be@schermerhorn, the downtown condo that first launched sales efforts just before the market fell off a cliff, but the end appears to be in sight. Last month word came that the building was 80 percent spoken for, and yesterday a press release trumpeted that it was 90 percent gone, with “only seven of the 246 homes remain available: six two-bedroom homes and Penthouse B.” The remaining units are running from $741,000 to $828,750 for the two-beds and $975,000 for the penthouse.

They actually don’t even allow laundry in the apts, even if you wanted to add it.
Sure, these sold, but after big price chops. They were originally marketed for trendiness and glitziness, but then were forced to focus on value on livability.
Had they known they were going to go with the latter approach, they certainly would have included laundry in the units. Laundry hookup has to add, what, $10-15K to what people will pay for it?
Hype doesn’t only equal the # of closed units. IMO, it also includes amenties & construction quality, 11217. Hence my agreement w/ Novanglus.
You don’t need to believe the hype, but this was the best selling building in all of NYC (yes, you heard that correctly) in 2010. Toren was #2 and One Brooklyn Bridge Park was #3. 7 of the top 10 best selling buildings in NYC in 2010 were in Brooklyn.

I agree w/ Novanglus @ 958am. I never believe “the hype.”
Corcoran has 12 units listed up for sale and not in contract.
novanglus — Preach on.
I’m still amazed someone did new construction without providing laundry hookups in the units.
They must have all bid half off peak…..
