Not Much Brooklyn Love on REBNY Site

The Brooklyn Eagle gives the Real Estate Board of New York’s new website a whirl and finds its Kings County listings a bit lacking. As of Friday, there were 501 Brooklyn listings from six firms (as search we did yesterday only came up with 490, while a search for Manhattan listings yielded more than 2,300 results). Corcoran and Elliman have already received a lot of press for opting out of the REBNY portal, but it turns out a number of heavy-hitting Brooklyn brokerages—including RE/MAX, Fillmore and Brooklyn Properties—have also decided not to participate. And that’s left REBNY’s site with a dearth of Brooklyn listings, especially in some prime areas: As of yesterday, there were a scant 36 listings in Brooklyn Heights and 25 in Park Slope. (Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Clinton Hill, Prospect Heights, Kensington and Sunset Park each had fewer than 10 listings.) It remains to be seen whether more brokerages will decide to participate in the site and swell the number of Brooklyn listings. For the time being, it looks like it’s going to be of limited utility for Brooklyn house hunters.

21st Century, Ahoy: REBNY Rolling Out Web Listings [Brownstoner]
Well Fillmore Real Estate DOES co-broke, and has co-brokered many deals with Corcoran and Elliman agents over the years.
REBNY is not the only association in NYC, and believe it or not, although Manhattan has no strong MLS, Brooklyn has 2 – that do have great coverage.
And as far as Zillow having listings, that is laughable, their zestimates are off, and they have no listings at all, their coverage is crap.
Fillmore and dozens of local brokers send listings to http://www.trulia.com which has awesome Brooklyn coverage – and guess what Elliman is on there too… they just don’t appear in Manhattan.
if nalani clark wants to whore her self for a small commission to get a listing good for her.
I just used it to see what it is like. It seems much easier to navigate than the NY Times’ website. Also I can never figure out how to properly search some of the firms’ sites that have no Brooklyn presence, like Sothebys and Stribling, so now I don’t have to bother, I can just go to one place.
RE/Max, Fillmore, and Brooklyn Properties are not REBNY members and do not co-broke. It’s really a shame that Corcoran and Elliman have opted out of this, which effectively renders it useless.
It’s too bad that more Bklyn firms are joining in, but it’s probably a reflection of these agents’ confidence in the health of the real-estate market. Wonder if they’ll change their tune if the market slows down and they’re looking to maximize exposure and create convenience for buyers.
Agreed, a collasal waste of money and time in its current forum. Better off hopping to each co. individually or using nytimes, natefind, etc.
REBNY should come down hard on those who have opted out, however, I doubt they can do much (perhaps throw them out of the club)?
This one is pretty good for real estate listings in Brooklyn:
