120 Lexington Avenue is a bit of a mystery to us. The six-unit, Scarano-designed project was started during the boom but then sat empty and almost done for a couple of years before the developer tried to unload it at the end of 2008 for $2,300,000. That price proved to be to rich, and a bottom-feeder picked it up for $1,487,500 in July of last year. There’s no current information about the property’s status on StreetEasy, but last weekend we saw people starting to move in. We’re assuming it’s a rental now, even though there’s still a sign for condos in the window. Anyone know any details? GMAP

  1. This place cracks me up. the top floor deck is clearly a space ship landing pad. Not only do the garage doors have no relationship to the curb cuts, one has a fire hydrant where the driveway ought to be. Another has a tree.

If you stand back and look at it (say, while enjoying a cupcake from Heavenly Crumbs) you’ll notice that nothing seems to meet at a right angle.

  2. “a bottom-feeder picked it up for $1,487,500 in July”

That’s some colorful language there, Brownie. I would think “savvy buyer” would be a more appropriate, especially since the original price tag was probably absurd for an investment property (either flip or rentals)

  3. if i wonder the lottery i would buy one of these too and turn it into an old school *FREE* brothel. what are the laws when it comes to exposed interiors like that? like if people were to have sex in plain view for the street to see, is that illegal?
