facadeThe Times’ Motoko Rich flags this “handsome fixer-upper” in the newspaper’s real estate blog, The Walk-Through. Located at 166 Livonia Street, the three-story, three-family brownstone is on the other side of the tracks, literally, from a gigantic public swimming pool. The estimated price of $290,000 may look tempting, but make sure you read the Property Report before handing any money over to HUD: problems include mold, water damage and unsafe oil tanks in the basement. Even worse, we hear Scarano’s been rushing to get the foundation poured on a 40-story tower next door before this part of Crown Heights Brownsville gets downzoned!

  1. Yes way out in Brownsville. And why would ANYONE want to fix this up???
It would be much easier to tear it down and start over. With all those problems, just tear it down and throw it out!!
