The landmarked brick house at 495 4th Street is part of a row designed by architect-owners Allen Brothers in 1891. Broadly Romanesque Revival in style, as is the whole row, it has some very unusual roof details that look vaguely Japanese to us over a stepped gable and a rectangular oriel window.
Inside the details are Renaissance Revival and neoclassical: There are a lot of fireplaces with garlands, wood work with the same, inlaid floors, and six-paneled doors, including pocket doors. It’s set up as a double duplex, but the listing suggests a buyer might want to change that to a triplex over a garden floor rental and shows an alternate floor plan.
There are no photos of bathrooms or kitchens. What do you think of it and the ask of $2,995,000?
