House of the Day: 205 Maple Street

If last week’s $8,800-a-month house for rent on Maple Street between Bedford and Rogers Avenues in PLG left you scratching your head, here’s another option (to buy) on the same block that might seem more affordable: 205 Maple Street. A reader brought it to our attention on behalf of the elderly owner who’s been trying to sell it for a while but, mystifyingly, been relying on brokers who seem not to have figured out how to market a property in the Internet age. According to the reader, who’s seen the place, it’s got lots of detail and needs quite a bit of work. She seems to think that even with a top-notch renovation that a buyer could end up doing quite a bit better than the $1,325,000 that the house across the street (206 Maple Street) sold for last year. Unfortunately, the broker’s marketing skills don’t appear to include the taking and posting of photos; in fact, all they managed to do was grab an exterior photo off PropertyShark. No interior shots at all. Boo Hiss!
