House of the Day: 225 Marlborough Road

This is a bit of an odd one. This stucco house at 225 Marlborough Road (at the corner of Beverley Road) has been used most recently as an office space—and the interior is the worse for it. Since it’s zoned for professional as well as residential space, the choice can now be yours. For someone who doesn’t care about original architectural details, this could indeed be a chance to “transform this to be your dream home,” as the listing says. The asking price is $1,080,000. What do the Victorian Flatbushers out there think of that?

The exterior of this house has suffered quite a few pre-landmark era “renovation.” House is pristine neither inside nor out. Still has some charm, but ever time I look at it, I’m pained by what was clearly destroyed.
At the right price, I would.
It’s rather unfortunate isn’t it?
No way for 1 mil. unless maybe you are a doctor and want to live upstairs.

Hahaha… I read “80s themed doctor’s office” thinking that it was just a descriptive device, a metaphor of some sort.
But it REALLY IS an 80’s themed doctor’s office inside! Or is it a dentist?
The lot is pretty awkward. Most of the exterior space is wasted in the front yard. Maybe with some privet hedges you could make it into a more private space? Beverley Road and proximity to train are obvious minuses. Still, its relatively affordable for PPS.
Ugghh…that poor house. Great looking on the outside, but an 80’s themed doctor’s office on the inside….
That’s on the train track side of Marlborough, so it’s plenty noisy, and Beverley gets a lot of through traffic by local standards. But an 80×100 lot sounds very nice.
This house is landmarked – which limits what can actually be done to it. The location – on both Beverley Rd and the train tracks, is less than desirable for PPS. It’s an odd duck. I once saw a photo of this house in its original state. Built a decade or so after most of PPS, it had a very craftsman vibe.
