House of the Day: 46 Cambridge Place
At first glance, this four-story house at 46 Cambridge Place looks pretty cheap at $1,200,000. The semi-attached double-duplex has a charming exterior and the interior retains some original details. It’s hard to tell for sure, but there’s something a little off about the renovation, judging from the limited number of photos. The yard is charming…

The yard is charming and this is a nice stretch of Cambridge so it could still be worth itbut we’d need to see more photos, especially of the upper duplex. When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

I’ve lived on this block for years and have seen this house as well. Like most places purchased here..there’s work to be done. But arrests? loud music? Hearsay is useless…its a great block with really solid families..not the Bronx circa 1980!
I love this little house and the block is one of my favorite in Clinton Hill. I live the next block over on Grand Avenue and walk down this block from Fulton all the time because it’s much prettier than my block. Unfortunately, the house does need a lot of renovation and I think it’s been illegally used as a three family. I hope someone will come fix it up and take it back to its former glory. I don’t really see it selling at this asking price.
I was really excited about this property–love wood frame houses and it’s a very nice block, but I was really disappointed when I looked at it. It does seem more narrow than 19 feet. And usually I can look past the rabbit warren effect of lots of little rooms but this just felt cramped and dreary. Also, it needs a TON of work, and besides the parlor floor, the details aren’t intact. There are some fireplaces but not the original ones, and the exposed brick chimmneys have been painted with some kind of glossy shellack (Yuck). And finally, I heard that the adjoining neighbors are on the rowdy side–arrests, lots of traffic in and out, loud music at all hours… Sadly this is a case of too good to be true.
Rooms look 8′ wide.
Is it really 19 feet wide? Looks narrower to me. can’t quite make out the dimensions on the floorplan either.
more like 4 rentals … and it’s just being called a two family for other reasons.
That threw me too — looks like it was a four-family converted to two….
The floorplan shows kitchens on every floor.
It looks quite narrow (says it’s 19 feet wide, but no center stair…), but I do love that block, could be a good deal.
