house
Here’s an interesting one: A two-story frame house with a double garage for $850,000 on East 2nd Street in Windsor Terrace. Granted it’s not huge (and it is on the southern edge of the nabe), but if you want to be within walking distance of Park Slope and Prospect Park for under a million bucks, this could be worth a look. The first floor looks like it has some nice touches–original door frames and floors–but the second floor looks pretty generic and charmless. And, not surprisingly, the kitchen’s not winning any design awards.

  1. “the last I heard a developer was planning to buy up multiple semi’s (preferably those connected) and make large 1-2 family homes, to create low rise mansions…”

UGH!!! I hope this never happens. Crappy “mansions” are destroying neighborhoods all over Brooklyn and Queens. May WT be spared this horror.

  2. WT has people, prospect park, greenwood cemetary, multiple subway stops in walking distance, multiple bus lines/connections to PS and Brooklyn heights, an express bus stop, 3 great public schools w/ magnat programs, parking, large yards, peace and quiet (low crime)..need i say…homes that are still affordable (for now). If your looking for a place and haven’t considered WT what are you waiting for.

  3. I’m always puzzled when people say WT has no amenities, but they’re willing to pay 25K for private school. If you have kids and aren’t rich, district 15 schools are a pretty big amenity.

  4. Theses photos make the house MUCH nicer than it is in person. It’s narrow, and dark-ish, and needs a lot of work. Pergot on the first floor, linoleum on the second.

The people who live on the other side of the expressway in WT love their neighborhood. It doesn’t do it for me, because it feels cut off, and there are no amenities there. I’m also not thrilled with all the vinyl siding, and uneven architecture. The walk to the park is more than five minutes, and you need to cross over the highway, which is psychologically daunting.

But as I said, people who live there really like it, and the prices up until recently were good

  5. WT is booming with opportunity..this is a steal..the last I heard a developer was planning to buy up multiple semi’s (preferably those connected) and make large 1-2 family homes, to create low rise mansions…i don’t know, but anyone looking to drop 2mil and get 5000sf + parking + yard and still be walking distance to PS may want to think about it. def more convienent then midwood.

  6. funny enough I lived directly across the street from this house for several years before I sold mine. It is a great block, with good parking (as long as you get home before 8pm) – you can almost always park on the block – either way this house has a driveway and garage….

it is priced to sell from what I can see, i do know that the basement was redone recently.

    I think it’ll go aroun 825K

Fillmore Real Estate sold mine for 770K and it was attached – however totally gut renovated, no parking.

    825K is a fair price.

It IS close to the park, about a 5 minute walk to the PPW entrance. F train is right off greenwood (6 blocks)…

    so good luck!

  7. Ignoring the silly WT comments (WT is superior to Park Slope for many people who have a car, like a more friendly community, have children, like having a backyard, don’t have 2M to spend on a house, etc..), this place is kind of a weird one. I went to an open house a few weeks ago and walked away with a mixed mind.

The price is not bad for a safe block and a short walk away from the F line. Its has lots of potential and some original details that could make this place a real find. But there are some big problemst oo. Its one of those attached houses that shares a facade – that alone gives me pause. Then there is this middle room that is too small to be a dining room or office but is smack dab in the middle of everything. The wallpaper and other cosmetic things seem to be hiding a plethora of problems underneath. Im sure the place needs a complete electric overhaul and maybe a plumbing redo as well.

I wonder how this one will turn out?
