HOTD: Low-Balling the House of Mirrors

There’s so much to love about this townhouse listing on New York Avenue in Crown Heights. While we certainly appreciate the fireplace tiles (which are a match for a set in our house), it’s hard to find a hall of mirrors like this anywhere in Brownstone Brooklyn! Best of all are the terms of the listing. “No offer will be refused,” reads the ad. Now that’s our kind of deal. Do we hear one dollar?

If I were looking for a house now, I’d look for a house with bizarre decorating that repelled other buyers and lowered the price–this stuff is pretty easyto remove.
Ok, now I can see the house of mirrors. Gack! Actually, my dining room was covered in mirror tiles when I bought it. Popping those puppies off the wall was a pleasure, even though plaster came with some of them. That shouldn’t stop anyone from buying what is otherwise a halfway decent house. I don’t think they will get that price, however.
We live nearby and the block has very friendly to us. We didn’t pay quite that much but we don’t have as much detail. I know the house… There is an apartment building for sale around the corner too
Unfortunately, my crappy computer here at work is showing the interior pix much too darkly, and I’ll have to wait until I get home to really see it. From what I’ve seen of that block, it’s quiet, and only a couple of blocks from the 3 on Eastern Parkway. A bus runs down NY Ave towards Wmsburg (I think it’s the 44) and the houses are all in decent condition. Not bad.
