Considering Greenpoint rental prices, this listing offers quite a bit of house for the money — specifically, a whole house with two units and not a few trimmings, including a backyard swimming pool.
The siding-covered wood frame house at 214 Eagle Street is a standalone and wide at 25 feet. That and old photos of the property and its neighbors show it’s likely a mid-19th century Italianate.
Inside is a wide vestibule and stair hall with a bench with storage underneath and shiplap and a shelf above. Throughout the house are white walls and attractive wood floors.
The living room has a wide arched opening that leads to a dining room with shelving built into the recesses on either side of a chimney breast. There are sliding glass doors that lead to the backyard.
The room is open to the large kitchen, which has been updated with white cupboards, dark stone counters, a white subway tile backsplash, dishwasher, and swirly concrete floor. The stove is extra wide, and the farmhouse sink is positioned in front of a window overlooking the backyard.
Upstairs are three good-size bedrooms, one full bathroom, and a lounging area open to the hall that could be used as a bedroom, according to the listing.
In the lower level, which appears to be below grade and have its own separate entrance, is laundry and a one-bedroom apartment that can be rented out or used as an in-law unit, the listing says. Somewhere in the house is a powder room but the listing doesn’t specify where.
In the backyard, the above-ground swimming pool is built into a raised deck; there is also a large concrete patio and artificial turf for lounging.
The duplex has mini-split air conditioning and heating and soundproof windows. The house has solar power.
At the tip of Greenpoint near the Pulaski Bridge to Queens, the property is on a mixed industrial and residential block sandwiched between a city sewage treatment plan and busy McGuinness Boulevard.
Listed by Cheryl Huang of Compass, the rental is priced at $7,500 a month. It is also available to buy for $2.15 million. What do you think?
