Glutton for Punishment on St. James Place
We noticed that Weichert (oh, ye of the yellow ballooned signs) was holding another open house yesterday (Monday, weird, right?) at 156 St. James Place, the Clinton Hill 12-footer that was ravaged by readers last week. We noticed that Weichert (oh, ye of the yellow ballooned signs) was holding another open house yesterday (Monday, weird, right?) at 156 St. James Place, the Clinton Hill 12-footer that was ravaged by readers last week. (Notice the charmingly restored #158 at left.) We wanted to show a full-frontal of the house and were hoping to find out if they’d cut the silly asking price of $950,000 yet. Actually, what we’d really love to see are some hidden-camera shots of the interior.

Anon 1:25- I’m not the broker. Besides, even if the adjacent house WAS to be renovated, do you really think that would bring the price THAT far above value, even to a delusional seller? Or did you just misread my post? I’m a neighbor who
was there when the owner of 154 was discussing a public hearing with Landmarks Commission regarding the addition of a stoop with one of his other neighbors. I assume this means he plans to renovate the facade of his house.
What happened to the intent to repost the remarks of the person from PACC about the Washington Ave. building?
as someone new to the NYC housing market, it is refreshing to see SOMEONE getting called out for ridiculous pricing. I had thought I was the only one who noticed.
Renovations to commence soon? Really Weichert broker? I’m now sold! $950k is just right!!! Where’s my check book? Ha! What a joke!
The house on the right is, I hear, awaiting exterior renovation which is to commence soon!
They also share plumbing stacks – with that delightful looking house on the right there. Wow. I had no idea about the FSBO at $1.3. That’s just dumb.
11.7 wide on the interior, actually. The house was built in tandem with the house next door; they share joists and foundation, but they were always seperate buildings. I believe they shered a stoop and portico at one time.
Is this place really 12″ wide? Was it originally part of the neighboring house, and then just sliced in half?
I imagine what’s going thru their heads is the same thing that makes a little old ant think he can move a rubber tree plant. But reality HAS visited the seller on some level: the place was listed FSBO a few months ago at…wait for it…1.3 mil¡
