Let’s hope that the family is able to once again “dodge the bullet” and keep their home. This is not the time for anyone to worry about losing their home and I for one would feel sick to take advantage of their misfortune.
This is such a clear example of why the widget is so much bs. Too many are just putting down any ridiculous amount below the listed price — regardless of the facts. (Why? Is that supposed to make you feel better about not being to afford the property even at the auction price point?) Here you have a large landmarked house, likely rich in interior details, situated close to the park and the bbg and major bus and subway routes. No way in hell this house is going to sell below the lien price. At market value, it’s at least 3x that amount — even in this recession.
I just feel so sorry for the family that has lost this home!
if this has been going on a long time, why is there not a short sale? Even a listing?
I’ve been looking for a “value” in lefferts gardens, but I hadnt heard of this one outside of the foreclosure.
It’s probably not too late to work something out.
“Where is BobMarvin already? ”
What can I add to what’s already been said? If I thought for a moment that this house would go for the lien amount, I’d say that it’s a great opportunity, but I doubt that this will happen. IIRC the family involved are long time owners–much longer than me. It’s a tragedy for them.
This side is both Landmark and within Lefferts Manor. Must be single family. Almost all the other houses on this side of the block have seen major upgrades in recent years. Some are being worked on now: new roofs, new gardens, new exteriors. It’s a great neighborhood. The second block of Lincoln won Greenest Block in Brooklyn this year.
I could bid half off, but I doubt I could get it. In fact, I can even afford this at ask. I am all talk and no action.
c’mon already with this widget showing $233k. This is a 5000sqft bldg on huge lot (propshark show 100′ wide).
Where is BobMarvin already?
Looking at googlemap…nice big houses on this side and large apt buildings on other. Does this side of street have landmark or anything that would drive up cost to fix ?
Beautiful block, great opportunity for someone. I would if I could. Go check it out.
Why the crazy talk with the widget? Surely this is going to go for more than the lien price?
From an auction perspective it just means that with a low lien, there’s a greater chance of the bank accepting the offer, no? Then it’s down to how many people want it on the day.
