Co-op of the Day: 59 Pineapple Street
We received an email from a reader who missed last weekend’s open house at the two-bedroom, two-bath co-op at 59 Pineapple Street and was looking for some feedback. Since all we’ve got is a text ad to work from, we don’t have much to say other than it looks like a nice prewar elevator building…

We received an email from a reader who missed last weekend’s open house at the two-bedroom, two-bath co-op at 59 Pineapple Street and was looking for some feedback. Since all we’ve got is a text ad to work from, we don’t have much to say other than it looks like a nice prewar elevator building on a pretty block in The Heights. If there’s truth in advertising about the eat-in kitchen, alcove office and common roofdeck, this could be interesting at $729,000. Anyone make it to the open house?

i looked at these posts with interest because i live in the bldg. As for the comment by anonymous about the 1 BR layouts in the bldg…irrelevant. The two BRs (i own one) are all two units combined. I saw 2BC before it sold and it was quite nice..I almost wanted to trade because they had more light than I did. The 799k was a fair price…the 729k offer for this one sounds fair…actually less than ours cost two years ago…difference is ours was newly renovated/brand new kitchen/baths. We also bought FSBO.
BB – the listing on natefind is probably unit #2BC, which closed 1/1//07. Original 9/5/06 list was $899K, dropped to $799K 10/21/06. Might be the same footprint but who knows.
My question is why would they run such a sparse ad on NYT to begin with? If you’re determined to have a successful FSBO, I would think at a minimum you would setup a url with pics and a floor plan.
They’re stumble around for two more months before schlepping down to Montague looking for an agent.
I’m not sure if this is the same apartment, but I found this: http://www.natefind.com/NY/New-York/59-Pineapple-St-Brooklyn-Heights/71901
I was talking about 35 pierrepont — another 2b/2bath for this price. Just the first part was about this building. Sorry if that was unclear.
I lived next door to this building for four years (my old building is the one with the green awning) and have been inside a few times. The poster above does not know that they are talking about. This is not a full service building, if there is a doorman its part-time and as for the elevator, I remember pressing the buttons myself. I have seen two of the apartments (1Brs) and the layouts were not great – looked like a convert studio.
I don’t like this building. Windows tend to be on one end and lots of interior space. And maint. is on high side.
There is an interesting listing in 35 Pierrepont:

Maint in this building is really high but that’s because it’s totally full-service. Mail brought to your door, elevator attendant, doorman. Far too high for me, but the layouts in here are always nice and I like a fixer-upper. Could maybe lowball and flip — this bldg is full of bankers, some celebs. Listings tend to linger so maybe keep an eye on it.
I looked at every building in brooklyn heights last year before I bought!
