Condo of the Day: 56 Court Street, #6B
For some reason, we’ve never had occasion to feature any apartment at 56 Court Street. Today’s Condo of the Day is #6B, one of 44 units in the building. For Brooklyn Heights, it’s a fair amount of space (1,275 square feet) for the money ($760,000); and because of the corner location, this particular apartment gets some very nice light. Still, the building and location definitely lack some of the snob appeal and amenities of the neighborhood’s more established co-ops (though that may be a good thing in some buyers minds!). What do you make of it?

The apartment faces onto a brick wall. Okay, two brick walls. Also, cc are on the high side considering you have to pay your own heat and electric. And what is the deal with taxes? Is there an exemption that is petering out soon?
All that aside, this is a good live/work location for someone like an architect, attorney, accountant… or yes, artist.
Not to disappoint, but I can’t really say I love or hate. Too big for that space, though! I do think it’s “stretched” a bit by the wide angle, but still, that’s a wide fridge.
I know this will start a round of “I love, I hate” but let me say it anyway. What is it with these humongous fridges and no counter space to prepare food? Is that monster 45″ wide or is it some wide angle camera thing? I cook and decided to go with a built-in 24″ fridge/freezer for my co-op and it is fine.
I’m friends with a family that lives on the corner of Joralemon and Court; when inside their place you can’t hear anything.
The virtually staged living room has no dining table.
And, yeah, that funky bedroom is not original.
Why is brownstoner calling this a corner location? The building is not on the corner.
It’s a good price for the size.
This is definitely more of a Downtown Brooklyn than Brooklyn Heights type of place. Which is why it’s so affordable, relative to what one normally finds in the Heights.
Nice and sunny, with ample space. However, it would seem with all that space they could have done more with the bathroom and kitchen–which are nicely finished, but small.
relative cheap entry into primo BK Heights hood. if one has mega bucks, yeah why SETTLE for this.
I would definitely gain weight if I lived above a donut shop.
I generally agree with Biff’s post, but, still, that’s a great amount of space at a great price, and, surprisingly, I like it. Though there is only 1 bath. Court Street location is hardly ideal, and hardly what drew me to the nabe in the first place, but, for better or worse, really looks no different than a lot of loft locations in TriBeCa and SoHo.
