Set Speed forgot to check in with his parole officer so he’s on the run this week and we’re left holding the bag. In the absence of a new development hitting the market en masse, we thought we’d take the unprecedented step of looking at a particular condo listing. The one that grabbed our eye first was this place on Broadway off Kent. Located in an old hotel, we dig the old building and don’t mind the storefront window look on the ground floor. The rooftop addition looks ugly from the photo but what’re you going to do. As for the apartment, for $605,000 you get 890 square feet on the fourth floor with a south-facing balcony. At about $660 per foot, we’re not sure how this stacks up against places in the neighboring Gretsch Building–anyone know? Overall, though, this seems like a decent place in a nice old building that’s been built out in an acceptable manner. Who’s been inside?

It’s not far from the J/M/Z (the jams!) train though, which puts you one stop from the F/V. I live 2 blocks from the L but sometimes walk the extra 10 minutes to the J/M/Z to get downtown. Who needs the L when you’ve got the JAMZ?
The teeny tiny sink in the kitchen would bug me. How hard would it be to install a bigger one?
I looked at this building and was interested in the two bedroom unit which had views on front and rear. I thought that this was one of the most beautiful buidlings I had ever seen redone. I almost bought the unit (750,000). Incredible view of the bridge just in front. Great finishes. Still a walk to the train. Still think about the place
Anon 12:12, are you sure you looked at this building? There is no train right across this one, maybe you meant the Williamsburg Bridge, which is 2 blocks down
i saw this building about a year ago when they were begining to sell. it was nice but not spectacular. i wonder what is in the retail space. back then the re agent made a fuss on how the develper wanted to keep to the ‘upscale’ integrity of the place and would not rent just to any body… they were thinking of a wine store then. it’s right across the street from the train.

As far as I know, this building was sold out a little while ago, so this is probably a flipper trying to cash out his investment there.
So jails have wifi now? Not bad!
