This compact Sunset Park one-bedroom is modest, but it does have wood floors, picture rails, and appears move-in ready. It is on the third floor of the walk-up building at 521 41st Street, also known as No. 531.
The yellow brick building was designed by Eric O. Holmgren for the Sun Heights Building Corporation and completed in 1927, according to a certificate of occupancy. Holmgren practiced in Brooklyn and did a fair amount of work within the Finnish community constructing early co-operative housing. Interestingly, the name carved above the entrance of this building is “Park Slope Homes,” despite the location across the street from Sunset Park.
The layout includes a small foyer with a wood floor with inlaid border and picture rails. Those same details extend through the living room and bedroom.
A closet provides a bit of storage in the living room. The room has two windows with fire-escape views, a ceiling fan, and access to the bedroom.
The kitchen is off the foyer and has a fair amount of cupboard space, black countertops, and a beige tile floor. A shelf near the window acts as a breakfast bar, with room for stools.
The bedroom is roomy enough to fit a king-sized bed and there is one closet.
In the bathroom the finishes are mostly white, including oversized white subway tile on the walls and white fixtures.
As shown in the listing photos, the building has solar panels. Other amenities including a laundry room, a bike room, and storage space. Maintenance for this unit is a modest $586 a month.
Mohamad Hasan of Bellmarc has the listing and it is priced at $375,000. What do you think?
