This petite Park Slope one-bedroom was altered to expand the kitchen into the living room, giving a bit more cooking space. On the second floor of the 1920s building at 333 4th Street, the unit still has wood floors, picture rails, and wall moldings.

Known as Helena Court when it was completed in 1929, the six-story, 60-unit brick building was designed by architect Joseph Martine for H and B Trading Corp. The modest ads for the elevator building boasted of the “ideal location” and amenities like incinerators and electric fridges.

Inside the apartment, a small foyer with a walk-in closet has an arched opening into the living space. The spacious room retains its wall moldings and wood floors; new are recessed lighting and the expanded kitchen. A peninsula juts out into the living area with room for seating on one side and under-the-counter appliances on the other.

The kitchen itself is windowed and narrow with white cabinets, a stainless steel counter, and open shelving. The appliances are petite to match the space, with a small cooktop, but there is still a dishwasher.

The bedroom, which is large enough to fit a king-sized bed, is off the foyer and has two closets, two windows, wall moldings, picture rails, and a wood floor.

All-white finishes fill the bathroom, from the modern wall-hung sink to the wall and floor tile.

The building has laundry, a live-in super, and storage. There is also a “liberal” subletting policy once owners have occupied their unit for two years, according to the listing. Maintenance for this unit is $962 a month.

Records show the apartment sold earlier this fall for $640,000. Brandon Marianne Lee of Compass has the current listing, and the unit is priced at $650,000. What do you think?
