This Bay Ridge studio is compact, but it does have the bonus of a roomy foyer, four closets, and a price under $300,000. It is on the first floor of 9425 Shore Road, a postwar building across from Shore Park and Parkway.
The streamlined brick building is still known as The Brittany, the name it was christened with upon completion in 1953. A blurb printed that year in the Brooklyn Eagle boasted it was a “notable addition to Shore Road” with benefits like “prewar-size rooms.”
This studio still has its original layout, one in which a buyer could get creative to make the most of the space. In addition to the foyer, which is large enough for a small office or dining setup, there is a separate kitchen and a large main living area.
The latter has two exposures, a closet, and room for a bedroom and seating area. Light and bright wall and trim finishes run throughout the apartment.
In the small kitchen, a new owner could embrace the vintage style of the original cabinets and sink while still adding personal touches like splashes of color or updates to the tile floor. As is, the cabinets, walls, and appliances are all white. There’s no dishwasher.
The bathroom was updated with a pedestal sink and subway tile.
Amenities in the building include storage space, a bike room, laundry, and a live-in super. The building has parking for an additional fee, but there is currently a waitlist. Maintenance for this unit is $613 a month.
This unit last sold in 2015 for $135,000. Margaret Calarco with Douglas Elliman has the current listing, and the studio is priced at $269,000. What do you think?
