Brownstone Brooklyn Poll: The Results Are In [Brooklyn Record]
Imagine my surprise at hearing an earnest young Yassky leafletter tell a questioner outside the Park Slope Food Coop today that his candidate considers the Atlantic Yards project to be “ludicrous”!!!!!
I don’t get it — is this a new Yassky swerve on this issue?
You know what, 10:23, i think we’ve all “known” b’stoner long enough now to trust that he would come out and say he’s doing a poll for demographic reasons. he isn’t really the type to try and pull one over on the readers, as far as I can tell. also, what’s up with all you liars…why lie? what’s in it for you? that’s just strange.
True that Brownstoner readers are not representative sample of 11th district.
But not meaningless at all. I’m sure candidates very interested to see how they are doing with the demographic that did answer poll… compared how they expect to do with this group.
In my very amateurish interpretation, AY maybe sole/deciding factor for about 25% whom answered.
And that the undecided group is quite large (also large in DailyNews poll) so that outcome is very unpredictalbe.
I took he poll but it is pretty meaningless. No election in ANY black majority ditrict can be polled without including African American Seniors. They are the most reliable voters in the community and thuis a huge voting block. As I highly doubt very many of them visit or read B-stoner or the BrookRec, and thus not included in these results, this poll tells us nothing about outcome of this election…other than the views of fellow B-stoner readers which is cool.
albeit cynical…a comment…
did mr. b’stoner do this poll for the political or the demographic information? are people more likely to give up demographic info (maybe more correctly) if they think that the poll is being used for some other reason than to gather information for advertisers?
Mr. Brownstoner, you have to do some serious thinking, as it seems you are far off the same page as your readers, see it from the fact that Yassky won in his district on your poll.
what is surprising in both DailyNews and BrooklynRecord polls in % of undecided. (probably because none are too exciting). Will be very hard to place bets on this one.
but people may have lied. ahem
To be honest, I find the analysis of Brownstoner’s posting community (as unscientific as it is) to be more interesting than the actual survey results!
