Brooklyn Real Estate Six Months Later: Two Sold, Two in Contract
This week, our look back at four listings from six months ago features homes in Ditmas Park, Flatbush, Crown Heights and Beverly Square East.

Another week, another look at four of our featured listings from six months ago. This week, we have homes in Ditmas Park, Flatbush, Crown Heights and Beverly Square East.
Starting us off, a sprawling three-story standalone that served as the inspiration for main character Frye’s home in the animated TV series “Futurama,” which is on the market for the first time in decades. It’s a seven-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath house located at 516 Rugby Road, in Ditmas Park. This former House of the Day entered contract in July.
Next, a darling co-op apartment in Flatbush that’s impressive for its spaciousness as well as its elegance. With two bedrooms, one-bath, more than 1,100 square feet of space and numerous original details, it’s located at 221 East 18th Street, not far from the newly restored Kings Theatre. This former Co-op of the Day sold in August for $680,000, which was $40,000 below the asking price.
After that, a massive four-story Renaissance Revival townhouse in the Crown Heights Historic District that has eye-popping details and incredible woodwork, with an onyx fireplace surround and multiple vintage stoves. Located at 1154 Dean Street not far from the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, it’s designated as an SRO, according to the listing. This former House of the Day entered contract in September.
Wrapping it up, we have a three-story, five-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath wood-frame in Beverly Square East with a shared driveway and a garage. Going by the floor plan, any potential buyer will probably want to renovate the first floor, which contains the living areas as well as four offices, although the interior it isn’t pictured. The property doesn’t appear to have a certificate of occupancy, but PropertyShark lists it as a one-family with a store or office, which could make finance tricky. This former Open House Pick sold in July for $1.35 million, which was $50,000 above the asking price.
