In the recent past, this bold new development on 5th Avenue near the corner of 16th Street was being marketed as Five Star Condominiums; Streeteasy shows listings like this one popping up last summer. There are no active listings for 572 5th Avenue now, though, and a call to the developers listed on DOB permits, “HMY Projects LLC,” brings news that “we’re basically taking it rental” and “hope to re-launch it in about four weeks.” The project doesn’t have a temporary certificate of occupancy yet, though it does look fairly complete from the outside.

  1. I love the look of this building. And I can’t be the only one who loves being near dollar stores…a girl’s gotta buy her glitter somewhere! Plus, it lets me off cheap wrt gifts for my 5 year old niece.

  2. too bad they’re going rental. This building is 25 year tax abatement, it’s rare to find a condo that’s 25. And the prices for these units is pretty on par with everything else in the area if you ask me.

  3. everything near 5th avenue between 13th and the expressway is pretty next to one of the myriad 99 cent stores. And it is awesomely convenient. It’s also pretty much next to a new preschool, black horse tavern, sidecar, commonwealth, two gyms, and two blocks from a subway. I think once this is a rental, it will go pretty quickly.

  4. I’m sure the idea of trying to sell overpriced condos was not terribly appealing considering the directions to find the place would end with “it’s the building next to the dollar store.”
