House of the Day: Circling Back to the Pfizer Mansion
When we discussed 280 Washington Avenue earlier in the week, noting that it had been reduced on the Corcoran site to $3,399,000, we didn’t realize that its twin sister at Number 282 was getting a face lift.

When we discussed 280 Washington Avenue earlier in the week, noting that it had been reduced on the Corcoran site to $3,399,000, we didn’t realize that its twin sister at Number 282 was getting a face lift. Know anything? Nor did we realize 280 was being simultaneously marketed by Brown Harris Stevens for $3,999,000. We’re used to seeing minor price discrepancies on Craigslist over open listings, but a $600K difference between two major firms? Waddup?

Our firm is actually working on 282. Yes it is getting a face lift, a major one at that. We have placed considerable attention to the original detail and 282 is getting a job in which the building was intended. $ 3+ mil, not a bad price as the inside is one of the most beautifully detailed homes I have ever been in. Good luck to the folks at 280, I hear that the inside was not as well kept as 282.
Agreed, thanks for the blog! It’s been fun to read and follow (despite the trolls) and we appreciate it.
Wow, Mr. B, sorry to hear that! Hope you get to have some quality time with the family and a great new year.
Thanks for all you do all year!
Doh! Absolutely right Mr Minerva. It was a rough week though. The toughest week we’ve had at work since we started the blog over two years ago.
I don’t think he’s sleazy. Just a chatterbox that won’t be quiet.
Come on,’Stoner! You know it’s the Pfizer mansions, not the Pratt mansions! They are re-doing the facade at 282. Taking each 6″-12″ thick stone out, hauling it off and remaking it, then bringing it back and putting it back in. I kid you not.
obviously its a typo, jeez this website has really taken a turn for the worse.
They must’ve fixed it after we posted…
When will you people realize brokers don’t set sale prices — sellers do.
