  1. Like some others said. People in queens are ‘new yorkers’

Heres how it was pre 2000s real estate boom. Could be different now – i live inside the brooklyn bubble so have lost all right to perspective.

People in queens tell other people from queens and nassau that they live in (their neighborhood), e.g. person from middle village will tell a dude from rosedale that they are from middle village.

They will tell people from brooklyn and manhattan that they live in queens, and depending on how blank the look back is, they may also name the neighborhood.

They tell people from out of state that they live in ny or ny city. Then more info if it’ll make a difference.

People from astoria and forest hills always just saw they are from astoria or forest hills no matter who they are talking to.

E.g., My dad and his folks were from glendale and but mom was from brooklyn. My dads folks talked about how things were in ridgewood and glendale vs. brooklyn. My mom talked about how things were in queens vs. brooklyn. My dads folks felt like other parts of queens were totally different towns. My mom felt like queens was a different planet. And no one on either side really went to ‘the city’ which was manhattan.
